As kings of Spain, they ruled over a world empire in which the sun never set.

After the First World War, the Habsburg Empire disappeared forever. But to this day, countless areas, cities and regions are still shaped by their influence, castles and palaces, monasteries and art collections are reminders of this once mighty dynasty. The five-part TV series “The Habsburgs in Europe” is a journey through time and to the most important and beautiful places of the Habsburgs. It takes you through more than a dozen of today's European states and back to the world more than a thousand years ago.
