Mari ist Bäuerin und bewirtschaftet ihren Hof mit ein paar Milchkühen. Als ihr Mann nach einer jahrzehntelangen, kinderlosen Ehe unerwartet stirbt, erlebt sie eine Zeit der wirtschaftlichen Unsicherheit, entwickelt aber zeitgleich neue Lebenskräfte. Mari entdeckt sich als Frau neu, trifft wagemutige Entscheidungen und überschreitet Grenzen, für die sie teuer bezahlen muss.
